I am not the culinary goddess my mother is. Seriously, her kitchen skills are legendary. But I manage! I stick to eating healthy and fresh every single day, with those elaborate, occasional festival treats. All, thankfully, made right at home. If you’ve been following my kitchen adventures, you know my cookbook obsession leans toward ones that don’t force me to hunt down some obscure ingredient in a speciality store. I have a huge soft spot for simple, freshly available fruits and vegetables.

Now, as an Indian living in Canada, my early days here were a struggle. The supermarket veggies just felt… industrially grown. My taste buds were confused! But after a lot of trial and error, the solution was simple: I’ve become a total Farmers’ Market regular. It’s my absolute go-to for all the vibrant, fresh produce my heart (and my heritage) craves!

This autumn, I decided to level up my home kitchen game. Forget binge-watching; I was binge-reading! I hit the local library and walked out with two of the most talked-about cookbooks this year: Mitahara (translates to Moderate Eating) by Rujuta Diwekar and Joyfull by Radhi Devlukia.
