How To Plan Your First Solo Trip On A Budget
From Hesitation to Exploration: How I planned my solo trips on a budget for 12 years!
Let me start this with a confession! I started solo travelling when it was not a fad, and it was never on my radar!
It just so happened that I started travelling to places alone because my friends were occupied with their jobs/studies. Not having a boyfriend was just a bonus!
But then I also had my share of doubts about stepping out all alone. To start with, will I even enjoy going out all alone? And then a series on ifs and buts’- how to plan it all out, what if things go wrong, I don’t know everything and the city is new, how will I manage the stay and will it be safe, etc. A million preconceived notions played their part too — solo travel might be boring, with whom will I share my excitement, will I be able to eat alone, who will plan the entire day… you get the picture. This all, at the age of 22!
But then I took a surprise trip to Himachal Pradesh (North of India) and Chennai-Pondicherry (Extreme South of India) — A story for another time! Both these trips forced me (happily) to embrace solo travel. And I loved it!
It shattered my notions of solo travel. I felt empowered, in charge of my life and decisions, did what I loved, and ate what I liked, something you don’t typically…
