In January, the beginning of 2024, we planned to take a road trip from Delhi to India's largest state- Uttar Pradesh. We opted to start our UP exploration from Lucknow- the city of Nawabs and the capital of Uttar Pradesh! I always wanted to visit Lucknow for all I have heard about its artistic heritage and melt-in-mouth Tunde Kababs. And so begin our road trip to Lucknow!

Historically, Lucknow was the seat of the Nawabs of Awadh in the 18th and 19th centuries. These Nawabs of Oudh ruled the city from 1722 to 1858, The city of Lucknow became prominent when Asaf-Ud-Daula moved his court from Faizabad to Lucknow in 1775.

These Nawabs weren’t just rulers, they were patrons of Art, Poetry and Cuisine. Their refined tastes and penchant for hospitality left an indelible mark on the city. Though the Nawabs as rulers are no longer part of modern governance, their legacy endures in the genteel demeanour of Lucknow’s people, architecture and rich culture.
