I have been a hobbyist cook (occasional cook) since I was 22. It was at 29 that I moved cities and started cooking all my 3 meals! For all these years, cooking felt something like this — visit the grocery store or order it online, buy vegetables, store them in the refrigerator, and cook based on the available time, in hand. It felt less like something I enjoy and more of a chore! A necessary evil in the hustle of city work life. For 5 years, it was the same! The only good thing about cooking on my own was — I learned how to pick fresh vegetables from the market, cook a delicious meal, and be a host who cook for her friends and family!

Things (And My Perspective) about cooking changed when I moved to a small town in Himachal Pradesh. Things were different here! There are limited takeaway options, no access to online grocery delivery service, and limited vegetables and fruit vendors- though all offer variety and fresh stock!

The thing about living in a small town and cooking here is- you get fresh produce directly from the farm! There are zero middlemen and the raw vegetables are directly sourced by the farmer to your home. The dairy here is full of fat and not any pasteurised milk packed in a Tetra Pack…
