For three years, I visited Goa for different reasons—to discover its less touristy side, to find peace in nature, and to discover new flavours. It didn’t disappoint me, not even once!

This article is the fourth in a series of 12 Months, 12 Cities And A Year Of Transformations.

Goa—the name alone conjures images of beaches, shacks, delicious seafood, and exploring the town on a two-wheeler. But what if I tell you there is a side of Goa, beyond beaches, that is all about learning Portuguese culture, exploring the flora and fauna of the Western Ghats, and trying the local Goan cuisine?

I visited Goa for 3 years in a row! Call it an obsession, or just the love for this place that keeps drawing me back. Each year, my trip has been unique. My first year of visit was in May 2022— to see the much-hyped GOA! My second visit to the city was in November 2023- to get my Open Water Scuba Diving Certification. My Third Visit was in April 2024- with my partner to show him the lesser-known Goa. And each visit introduced me to a different part of Goa.

Let me take you on MY Goa journey- beyond the beaches, into the spice markets, waterfalls, wildlife sanctuaries, and those perfect beachside spots for Digital Nomads.
