This city has witnessed centuries of history, from the legendary Indraprastha of the Mahabharata to the rule of the Mughal empire, and finally, to its role as the bustling heart of modern India.

This article is the tenth in the series of 12 Months, 12 Cities And A Year Of Transformations.

I have never been to Delhi in October! It was from November to February (peak winters) or June to July (peak summers) that I used to visit Delhi. However, this time, I was here in October, to do my “Delhi Darshan” and celebrate Diwali at my in-law's place. IMO, October is the perfect time to experience the charm of this vibrant, chaotic, and deeply historical city.

My exploring Delhi was never about this one month. I did it in bits and pieces, every time I was here. And so is the fact about being in Delhi- you can never claim to know all of this city! There is so much to explore! So much to savour! And so much to understand!

But as I write this, I am talking from the place of exploring it enough to tell you some things about this city and recommend places to visit in Delhi, if you are here for a month-long trip (or a short one!).

Delhi: A Historical Mosaic

I walked through the lanes of Old Delhi. It felt like I stepped into the living museum.
