I ignored the little warnings, the constant fatigue, the random heart palpitations, until one day, I burned out and collapsed on a perfectly relaxed Sunday!

We've all been there - a sudden tightness in the jaw while writing a long work email, a pull in our gut during a meeting, or making fists under the table while a client is talking across the table. And not just at work, sometimes the weekends leave you more fatigued than the workdays. I know it because I have been there too. And still, at times, I go through it. The only difference is that now I understand it is my body’s way of screaming “enough” when I wouldn’t say it to myself.

Our bodies are incredibly wise communicators, often picking up on emotional red flags before our minds do. When we’re in situations that violate our boundaries, trigger stress, or stir up unresolved feelings like anger or fear, the body steps in with physical cues. These aren’t just random aches; they’re somatic signals — the body’s language for “no.”

Drawing from my own experiences and what I’ve learned reading numerous books, talking to my therapist, and exploring wellness resources, I came to understand a few signs that clearly indicate that your body and mind need a step back.
